L.N.D.A is a project that brings the
young people of London together, as well as the public community. We believe
that there is a fine barrier between our older and younger generations in terms
of lack of understanding in mannerism and behaviour structures. There are a
number of reasons for this such as misuse of drugs or alcohol and
gang culture. These issues may be caused from experiencing a broken home, peer
pressure and a combination of many other issues that may occur within society.
Family and public dynamics often have a string influence on the way in that
young people see themselves, others and the world, which may also influence
their relationships, safety, behaviour and their wellbeing.
Understanding problems require the assessment of patterns interactions, with an
emphasis on what is happening, rather than why?
Dance activity like L.N.D.A is a way to
target such issues and to help lift a way of understanding the negative through
positive activity. The younger generation is our future and people want to see
the youth achieve and stand for something hopeful. Entertainment arts seems to
be one of the main focuses for young people to express potential skills and
talent, especially in dance as the street dance crazed of the UK sets a strong
hold on entertainment from 2009 up until today, since street dance crew
‘Flawless’ and ‘Diversity’ became popular on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. The public
not only voted for their talent but solely for their success story and
achievements. These are one of the reasons we would like to get the public
audience to vote for the L.N.D.A winner in the showcase event, getting them
involve in the making of the show.
Unemployment is an area we are also
tackling, participants involved will be taught how to work alongside different
people, learning essential social skills to gain employment by managing their
attitude towards work and life. They will improve on self-structure, awareness,
and confidence, having the opportunity to learn dance skills from professional
peers like Kimberley Jay- spokesperson for Nike Dance and founder of ‘Serious
about Street Dance’ at the 02indigo. As youth clubs are now almost extinct and
with activities that are too expensive to fund, teenagers are left wondering
what to do with their time, which is how we accumulate reactions such as the
‘UK Riots 2011’. In this case, we offer the public an opportunity to showcase
raw talent, life journeys and also show the UK what the young people’s
positivity is all about. London’s young people need projects like his to help
restore peace in a city that is constantly moving and changing.
